A Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend. I helped host a baby shower Saturday morning. The shower was a great success. Major panic set in when I arrived at the bakery and found out they had lost the cake order, however, they got a cake decorated quickly and it arrived at the shower in just the nick of time!! The guys had boy scout cleanup in the afternoon. Sunday morning was church. After lunch we all started on different projects. It was a beautiful day so the guys headed outside to work on digging the footing for a storage building. Rach and I worked on some much needed house cleaning. It's going to be a busy week and I really wanted to be able to start the week with a clean house : ) I also took advantage of the nice weather and worked in my flower beds. We finished the day by grilling steaks and watching "The Game Plan". All in all, a busy weekend, but a good one.

Tonight, Rachel and I are going to see The St. Petersburg Ballet Theater (from Russia) perform Romeo and Juliet. Rachel is really excited about getting to see it. Me - well, let's just say I am not excited like she is but I am glad to have the opportunity to take her to see a full length ballet by great artists!

First Haircut!!

I got my first post-chemo haircut yesterday!! I can't really put into words how great it felt to do something so "normal". I didn't get much cut but Jodie (yes, she's a Jody too) really shaped it up and got some of the fuzzies off the ends. The last haircut I had was October 3, 2006. My hair had begun to fall out from the chemo and I decided rather than dealing with the mess I would take control and let Jodie shave it off.

Today has been a busy day. School all day, then running Rach to ballet and running errands while in town. After I picked Rachel up, I dropped her off at home and then had to go to Wal-Mart. Good thing about that - it's not too busy between 9 and 10 at night. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and wet (not sure if it will be just wet or frozen) so I didn't want to have to be out if I don't have to be.

My first try at blogging

Several friends have blogs that I enjoy reading so I have decided to try my hand at blogging too.
I will start with a little bit of introduction. I am Jody, wife to Robert (for almost 23 years), mom to Allan and Rachel. We are in our 7th year of homeschooling, preparing our first child for graduation in April while the other is completing 8th grade. I am an 18 month breast cancer survivor - thank you Jesus!! We are transplants to Arkansas and love where we live, on a small lake.
